We are seeking a self-driven and passionate teacher to join our excellent SME team. If you are a great teacher, committed to continuous improvement of your practice so all students achieve outstanding outcomes, we would like to hear from you now.

The Social and Moral Education Department (SME) at Durrington High School has a specialist subject team delivering a broad curriculum including RE, Citizenship and PSHE. A conscientious team, with a deep-rooted passion for Social and Moral Education, we are committed to securing the best possible outcomes for all our students.

Our aim is to continuously improve the standard of teaching and learning, so as to maximise student outcomes. In essence, we want to be one of the best SME teams in the county and the country. In order to achieve this we are continuously evaluating our curriculum and our provision, as well as looking beyond our local area to the work that is conducted by SACRE, the LEA and PSHE Association at a national level. As one of a small number of designated Research Schools across the country, we are at the forefront of using research from the world of education and cognitive science to develop our teaching, and also to support other schools with developing their practice. As such our curriculum and pedagogy is thoroughly evidence informed, with research informed practices such as retrieval practice, spaced practice and metacognition informed teaching.
